Ren's Dangling Scales:
Ren or Renenet, is an Egyptian goddess of great power. In ancient times, she would gift newborn babies with their names, which was called "Ren." Her name literally translates as "she who gives Ren." Her names were an offering, known as an aspect of the eternal soul.
"...It was said that a baby had Renenet on its shoulder from the first day. She is depicted in art as a rearing cobra, and it was said that her gaze could either wither her enemies or grant abundant crops. The parts of her name mean both 'nourishment' and 'snake'. In her capacity as a snake, Renenet was the wife of Sobek, the crocodile god of Upper Egypt, who represented the life-giving fertility of the Nile flood. She was also mother of Nehebkau, who had domain over the Ka and Ba, other important facets of the soul. An ancient hymn to Renenet from the Egyptian Book of the Dead says, 'I will make the Nile swell for you, without there being a year of lack and exhaustion in the whole land, so the plants will be flourishing, bending under their fruit.'
